1. Monitor Industry Developments:
ISSETA closely tracks all changes in national and international organisations, such as IMO, SOLAS, EMSA, IACS, MOU, and others, particularly regarding lifesaving appliances. This includes products such as liferafts, marine evacuation systems, lifejackets, immersion suits, rescue boats, and both fixed and portable marine firefighting equipment, as well as personal protective equipment (PPE).
ISSETA investigates, proposes, and promotes new requirements and improvements to raise the standard of this equipment wherever possible.
2. Combat Unauthorised Servicing:
ISSETA works to reduce the number of unauthorised servicing operations for lifesaving equipment. The organisation advises service stations on how unauthorised repairs can endanger lives at sea and cause financial losses for shipowners. This effort is undertaken in close cooperation with national maritime administrations.
